Rights Assignment

What is your right?
Describe what it means to exercise your right.
What limitations exist on your right?
Why do those limitations exist?
If you had to give up this right, what would you want in return?

1. My right is the right to privacy.

2. "The right of privacy is the right to be left alone; it is the right of a person to be free from unwarranted publicity." http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-107767712.html (Manila Bulletin). The right of privacy protects individuals personal information and lets them determine what sort of information about themselves is collected, and how that information is used. Some of this information includes their name, address, email, social security number and financial information. The right to personal autonomy lets individuals have privacy to have a family, marriage, motherhood and raise a child. "The Fair Credit Reporting Act protects information gathered by credit reporting agencies." http://netsecurity.about.com/od/newsandeditorial1/a/aaprivacyrights.htm%20(Tony Bradley) The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act gives parents the right to what information about their children can be put on web sites. The right to privacy also allows government not to be able to search someones home and personal papers when ever they want. They have to get a warrent from the court before so. Also you have a right to keep your federal records private.

3. The limitations that exsist on the right to privacy is in some states you can not be married to the same sex or family members which allows the government to have a say in your marrage. If you are a suspect and the government or police believe you have some one in hostage or are going to hurt some one, they are allowed to break in and take you under arrest.

4. These limitaions exsixt because if somone is being held hostage and no one can go in and save them, then people could start dieing. Also if someone is trying to hire someone in childcare program, they have to right to cheackyuor background to make sure you are not a sex offinder or have any criminal records.

5. If I had to give up the right to privacy I would want some kind of security so that my personal information and belongings were kept safe. I would want to be safe and not in any kind of danger.

6. The right to privacy exsists because it allows people to keep their personal information to themselfs so no one can steal their identity, be put in publicity aginst their will or be in danger in any way. Before technology, people could have private conversations but now there are computer data bases and video cameras that can invade peoples privacy.

Inconvenient Fact 5

Fact: Sea level is rising because Global Warming is melting ice caps.

http://www.secretsofsurvival.com/survival/rising_sea_levels_global_warming.html
1) The sources are CNN reports and Geophisical Research Letters.
2) There are no real credintials for this site besides CNN reports and what they get form other scientists.
3) This site is probably not that credibal because there are no specific names stating that the sea level is riaing.
4) This site says that sea level is rising because of melting ice and talks more about what we can to to prevent it, like build walls or elevate the land.
5) I dont fully believe this site because there is no scientist or metorologist stating any facts.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/02/080211172517.htm
1) The sources are ScienceDaily, National Science Foundation and Beata Csatho. Ph.D.
2) Beata Csatho has a Ph.D. and is an assistant professor of geology in the UB College of Arts and Science.
3) This site is crediable because the NCF studies and researches on what is happening and Beata is involved in geology. This site has exact statisticts and good logical facts.
4) This site just talks about how Greenland's ice sheet has melted over the past year and they noticed a rising in sea levels.
5) I believe this site because there are real researchers studing but also think there should be more direct details.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2005/nov/25/frontpagenews.research
1) The sources are US researchers at Rutgers University in New Jersey and Professor Kenneth.
2) Professor Kenneth leads the studies on the rising sea levels that the students at Rutgers University are studying.
3) This site is credibal because he is a professor who studies and is involved in geology. I think there should have been more facts from other scientists to make this site more crediable.
4) The site says that global warming is doubling the rate of sea level rise aroung the world. It says that the oceans will rise nearly half a meter by the end of the century which will cause coastlines to back by hundreds of metres.
5) I believe this site because the researchers have facts to back up what they said and have actual studies of the coastline rising.

Inconvenient Fact 4

Fact: Because of Global Warming the glaciers are melting in the Himalayas which is causing a shortage of water.

http://www.cicero.uio.no/fulltext/index_e.aspx?id=6330
1) The source is Silje Pileberg and Silje, Kunda Dixit and scientists at the Asian International Center.

3) This site is credibal because both men went to school and are involved in climate changes.
4) The artical talks about how two billion people have water shortages in this centuary because the Himalayas glaciers are melting and they are melting because of global warming.
5) I believe this site is true because there are actual statistics and research and people to back up where and how they got there facts about the water shortages.

http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-5017689.html
1) The sources are High Beam Research and scientists.
2) There are really no credintials besides the fact the people giving the facts are scientists.
3) I don't think this is one of the better sites to use. It has good facts and straight forward statistics, but npo specific names.
4) This site says that there are 15,000 glaciers in the Himalayas that are not bringing enough water. This could affect up to 500 million people in surrounding countries. And scientists predict that if glaciers keep melting, that they will be gone in the next 40 years.
5) I don't think i believe this site because 40 years is a short time and theres not enough information on this site adn people to back up that the glaciers will be gone that fast.

3) This source is credibal because Randolph studies storms and the weather.
4) This artical states that hurricans have increased sharply ovcer the past few decades. The warm water vapor from the oceans brings tropical storms, and the water has been warmer therefore bringing more storms. There is a major increase of storms all aross the coast.
5) I believe this source because the Earth is getting warmer beacuse of global warming, which does cause warmer water and scientists say that the warmer water brings more storms.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2009/0109-global_warming_causes_severe_storms.htm

1) The sources are research meteorologists.
2) The credintials that meteorologists have is that they study the atmosphere to see how it effects the environment.
3) This source seems credibal because the information given is given by meteorologists, but this artical doesn't specifi an exact meteorologist stating these facts.
4) This artical said that storms have doubled over the past decade and more floods and strong winds are occuring.
5) I believe this website because meteorologists have studied the storms and atmosphere.

http://www.ivanhoe.com/science/story/2009/01/525a.html

1) The sources are Dr. Robert J. Trapp.
2) Dr. Robert J. Tr has a Ph.D. and is a meteorologist at Purdue University. He is apart of the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
3) This source is credibal beacuse Dr. Robert is a meteorologist who studies how the atmosphere causes the enviromnment to change.
4) This site talks about how there are more severe floods and how the increase in greenhouse gases will cause more sever storms.
5) I believe this source is true because Dr. Trapp is a meteorologist who knows what he is talking about and has true facts.

Inconvenient Fact 2

Fact: Polar bears are dying because the ice caps are melting. The ice caps are their homes and they are losing their homes and drowning.

4)This source is stating that air pollution in a big problem and is causing a thin layer of smog that is trapping heat in.
5)No I do not believe this source because there is no scientist stating that this is true.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4171591.stm
1) The source is BBC News. The person who wrote this was David Sington. Dr Stanhill gave the information needed.
2) This source has credentials because it is a News source and Stanhill is a doctor.
3) This sit is kind of credibal but not all the way because the artical doesn't state what kind of a doctor he is.
4) This artical is talking about how the sun seems to be dimming and clouds are changing. It also says all the different reasons why pollution is going in the air, like brning coal and oil and how fires are letting out more carbon dioxide.
5) I believe this source because there is alot of good information thats stating reasons why there is a layer of pollution trapping the sun in.

http://www.ask.com/bar?q=global+warming+%28sun+being+trapped+in%29&page=1&adt=0&qsrc=2417&ab=3&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pacebutler.com%2Fblog%2Fwhat-is-global-warming%2F

1) The source is the Environmental Protection Agency and Pace Butler Corporation.

Palestine

1. Palestine got invloved in the Arab- Israeli conflict because they were fighting over religion and land. Untill 1948, the area that both groups wanted was Palestine. Following the war of 1948-49, this land was divided into three parts: the state of Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Palestinians do not believe that they should forfeit their land to compensate Jews for Europe's crimes against them.

2. Palestine has been involved in the conflict from 1948-2009. Palestinians wanted all of the land but the Jews took some of it. Israel continued to expand settlements and continues to do that today. Israel offered to give up 97% of the land in the West Bank and all of Gaza, as well as Arab sections of Jerusalem. This offer was turned down by the Palestinians. Some Palestinians demand a state in the West Bank and Gaza. Israelis didn't want to creat a state because they thought it would be a base for terror groups. The Israeli government agreed to a demilitarized Palestinian state with limited control over its borders and resources. After the war there are now four million Palestine refugees. Today the Quartet countries have boycotted the Hamas led government until they agree to recognize Israel and end violence. Also Isrial continues to arrest Palistine terrorists.

3. The enemies in the Middle East are the Isrials because they came into Palestine and took over their land and fought about religion.

4. The friends of Palestine are Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. They can be called anytime to help Palestine fight in a war.

5. Palestines want their land back and all their plentiful resources. They also wanted oil and territory. They also wanted freedom of Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland and a seperate Palestine state. Palestines want peace.

6. Palestine is prepared to give up their people to be suicid bomers and give up their time to fight for what they want and what is theres.

7. Palestine will not give up their freedom and rights to the Isrials. Nor their land and what territory is theirs.

Reflection Questions

1. I learned that 9/11 impacted the U.S in a very dramatic way. Not only did people die and a war was caused but I learned that new laws were passed, like The Department of Homeland Security and others and also how insurances were impacted in a negative way.

2. My reserch question was "How did 9/11 impact the United States?"

3. 9/11 impacted the U.S. by causing thousands of people to die, insuraces had to pay off billions of dollars, health issues arose, a war was started in Afghanistan and department laws were passed.

4. Yes

5. My scrapbook had pictures of all the impacts I listed in question #3 and I had information written next to the pictures explaining all the many impacts.

6. On the project I reserched my information well and got not only what the ovious impacts were but also ones about the many new laws passed like Homeland Security, Border Control, Coast Gaurd and more. I also organized my information well.

7. I could have improved on maybe even going more deep into the impacts and finding even more impacts of 9/11.

8. I would not have changed anything I did on the project. I got all my reserch and my scrapbook looked nice.

9. I honestly would not have changed the assignment at all. Doing the blogs and Index Cards really help me reserch my quetion well and I was able to sight where I got all my information. I also liked that we got to choose anything in history because this made it fun to reserch my topic.

10. I think I deserve an A on the project because I had all my Index Cards on time, sighted all my information on my lay out of my scrapbook and put alot of time and effort into creating my scrapbook and making it look nice.
